This is peak “Okay, dude.” And not just because this “Steph” – probably Seth – likely decided he didn’t like his penis anymore because of Tumblr.

A couple of things here:

Firstly, much like how YouTube is really more of a platform than a publisher – though it likes to pretend its content is relevant – Twitch is a site entirely propped up by the commentary, skill, and charisma of its users. Twitch is the premiere destination for gaming streams from competitive speedruns and tournaments to casual playthroughs and lighthearted shenanigans (And also E-Thots, but this isn’t another simp story).

Second, it is not, therefore, necessary or even particularly wise for the idiots at the helm of Twitch to insist upon their users a culture that did nothing to contribute to the success of the site in the first place. There is no need for “safety and moderation” on Twitch. Watching a vidya-game cannot hurt you; and if it can, you probably aren’t fit for the world outside. Thought this has far less to with safety in the sense that people should be educated and informed on how to avoid scammers and sharing personal info online than it is about trying impose social justice bullshit and putting the mentally ill in positions of authority like something out of Psycho-Pass.

And third, to suggest that English speakers – English being the most universally spoken language worldwide – are at an unfair advantage because “some people” might not speak English is asinine. And these are the same people who will tell you that a dude should be able to completely decimate a crop of girls in female sports because “muh trans-rights”. These are not people who believe that all people should preform at their best to motive others and push the limits of what is possible, but sick, deranged, individuals who want to bring people down so that they feel better about themselves. This is not an argument for equality, this is an argument equity: the standardization of outcome regardless of ability. A nightmarish, utopian fever-dream that stands in direct opposition to human nature and completely eradicates the drive to achieve when put into practice.

What were these people thinking? What’s most bizarre is that’s it’s the gamer community that is regularly dragged for supposedly being an enclave of incels and bigots. What kind of a response were they expecting?

I’ve got news for you, sir, the world isn’t “fair” and nobody is equal to anyone else. There are people who are brilliant and there people who suck shit at everything they try. There are people who are born into destitute, and people who never miss a meal. There are people like me, who want people to just be people and not care about what others say, and there are people like you, Steph, because misery loves company.
