The Third Horseman [Re-Uploaded]
If you are one of those poor saps that got suckered in by one of those “Help Feed The Children” “We Are All Children of Christ” or “These Are The Faces of Hunger” sob stories and heartstrings bullshit ads over the past, like, what, 50 years or something, then congrats. You very easily doomed more than you saved.
If you are one of those few people who understand exponential growth charts when you see them, then you…must have done this on purpose. That’s kind of fucked up, but hey, it’s your money.
As it turns out, much like when you feed the squirrels and raccoons and bears in the wild, when you give food to a starving, war-torn third world shithole often and regularly enough, they develop cancerous tumors in their brains known to scientists as dependency. Dependency is a debilitating condition that robs the infected person of their intellect, pride, and the overall ability to be anything other than a nuisance to the world around them.
The third world has been given so much goddamn food and other aid, that they are ballooning in population, while everywhere else has stalled at the moment – though that will certainly change, and perhaps sooner than anyone thought in both cases.
Incidentally, when that aid is impeded, people die in droves. When that aid stops. Well, let’s just say the deaths from concentration camps and gulags will look like a car crash by comparison. I can hear Stalin’s member getting all rigor mortised up from here.
Aside from the riots, wars, and political gamesmanship that is sure to come from this, 250 million dead goes well beyond anyone’s capacity to dispose of the bodies. And what can be expected to come out of those streets piled high with starved dead bodies? Could it be a virus or two with a much, much her mortality rate than Corona-chan? I’d say it’s just a matter of when.
So what will be done about this? Well, what can be done about this? It would be unacceptable to all developed nations to prioritize the lives and wellbeing of third-worlders – and rightly so – when they themselves are working to alleviate their own self-inflicted shortages, and starving bodies can’t exactly hold out for weeks while things get back in order.
It’s baffling, I know, that so many places on Earth – that is, to say most – struggle to develop agriculture: A necessary, foundational component of civilization. South Africa and Zimbabwe are so shit at it that they kicked their farmers out or threaten to kill them. That’s the opposite of how to grow food. I would worry that China could offer them food in exchange for mining rights or something, but they aren’t a net exporter of food so I’m not worried.
So the next time you’re asked to give food to the less fortunate, fine. Just do it locally. You might stop a war.
We are 100% funded for October.
Thanks to everyone who helped out. 🥰
