Not the Bees!

Can’t anything good come out of Asia this year?

As if local bee populations hadn’t taken a big or worrying enough dip due to pesticides, cellular signals, or Bee AIDS, now we got Kaiju sized hornets that look like props for a Starship Troopers reboot.

But, in all seriousness, this is more than likely being over-sperged like corona-chan was. And unlike Corona, these things are big and easier to track down. But the Oregon government will need to act fast. I say this ironically of course.

Coming up with the best solution to exterminate these pests should not, CAN not, be left to the government – unless that solution is to issue a bounty, something I wish was more widely utilized for invasive species. But that actually brings me to my next point.

The west coast is infamous for its activists that make a living – if you can call it that – whinging and complaining about how some species of parasitic worm or bloodthirsty cyrptid deserves rights and that we’re all living beings or some granola-huffing bullshit like that. And while I can agree with the tree-fuckers to some degree – that we should avoid eradicating species if we can help it and that land development should be done conscientiously – I can’t think of one good goddamn reason why every Asian Hornet shouldn’t be smoked out, zap-fried, or drowned in a trap bottle filled with triple-sec. But I’m sure someone will raise a stink about it and insist on a committee being formed and a few million-dollar studies being performed because, well, it’s the West coast. “Save the Murder Hornet man!”

No, this is a problem only the entrepreneurial private citizen can solve. They are much quicker, much less incompetent, and have fewer focus groups to consult. The trackers honestly sound like the best approach; fitting a bug with a beacon might sound tedious but if it leads you to the entire colony that’s super worth it. And this is a problem that needs to be solved sooner rather than later. If they’re just now being found, who’s to say how long they’ve been here? A few weeks? A few months? Did some Chinese agent smuggle them in to make more problems? I wouldn’t doubt it, frankly.

Oregon’s got a similar climate to Michigan and like Hell I’m having giant monster hornets here.
