Noxious Knockout - [10/18/2020]
Okay, so a pretty misleading story, I’ll admit.
As someone’s who’s never used Uber, much less had a job shuttling the dregs of society from point A to point B, I can’t attest to the kinds of things that go on behind closed car doors. I don’t know how able an Uber driver is contractually to eject a passenger for doing something as involuntary as farting, but obviously, this Mallett character is at fault for landing the first hit, and good on Bonchev for knocking him the fuck out. And really, sometimes I feel like that should be the end of cases like this one.
I might be an unpopular a opinion (not that it’s ever stopped me), but when it comes to street scuffles that don’t escalate into shoot-outs, I think that, in many cases, they should simply be allowed to happen. I think if two people are going to get into it, a cop should be called, and basically act as an officiator. A referee. The cops says “go” and makes sure things don’t get out of hand – fists and feet only. Stomps probably shouldn’t be allowed either.
Think about it; think about all the petty cases clogging the legal system that could be kept from piling up if people were just allowed to duke it out every once in a while without being dragged through court and having to pay potentially hemorrhaging court fees and payouts. Duels were common place in the olden days, and in some states are technically still legal. What are a few scrapes and bruises compared to the damage done to people’s finances – even to those who aren’t necessarily at fault for getting into the fight? If two people willingly get into a fight and one isn’t jumping the other, I really don’t see any reason to attribute criminality to that.
And think about the potential for maturity in people. Think of the catharsis. What could toughen people up more effectively than decriminalizing fisticuffs? What could make for better streamed entertainment? My God, it would be like the early age of YouTube’s bum fights all over again!
If the demand for violent content is any indication, I think it’s safe to say that humans have an appetite, no, a dietary requirement for violence. Not necessarily to the point of killing mind you, but to force hefty fines and lengthy, potentially life destroying court hearings for doing what we humans are prone and programmed to do is, in too many cases, needless. Let a few fists fly, make sure someone catches them on their way down, let a cop act as a witness and declare a winner, and I think you’d have a society all the better off for it.
Also fight clubs. We need more fight clubs.
We are 100% funded for October.
Thanks to everyone who helped out. đ„°
