I agree, some people shouldn't get out. But, long prison sentences aren't the answer, that isn't justice unless the person comes out reformed. Usually the person comes out with mental diseases, and sometimes physical ones...usually more of a criminal. Real reform takes place when the person doesn't want to commit crime again.

The UK has part of the answer correct. Let the person out, and help them get back to normal living, BUT make them contribute to normal society. The prisoners who can't do this, they stay in prison. The people who commit homicide and other heinous crimes are among those who shouldn't ever get out. When sentenced to life in prison, it should be life in prison.

Prisons should be humane, and be no more than 2 prisoners to a cell. Yard time if any should be regulated and be allowed as well. All prisoners must be taught a trade skill as well, one of their choice while in prison, so that when they come out of jail, they can be employed somewhere.

I'll now address the most expensive of the prisoners: the death row prisoners. Why are they the most expensive? You have to pay extra for the transport to and from court, pay for the additional filings of court documents for all the appeals which will take years, and all that time, you have to house, feed, and bathe them and a max security environment. That's not even including the cost of the execution itself, which could run thousands to 10s of thousands of dollars depending on the kind of execution.

This among the most important reasons of morality, the death penalty should be reserved for homicide, and other more heinous crimes such as mass homicide, etc. When you play god and decide who lives and dies, you yourself will end up being judged by the same institution.

The left is right, our justice system is broken, but not in the way they think. It does need to be fixed although. No one on the right has the answer, not even Trump.
