Dear MoveOn member Stupid Sheep,

CNN FakeNewsNetwork has released a series of shocking text messages exchanged between Republican Senator Mike Lee and Mark Meadows, Trump's White House chief of staff, in the lead-up to the January 6 insurrection.

In the previously unknown exchange, Lee offers Meadows advice regarding Trump's effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election, urging the White House to "stay strong and keep fighting." That's right: A sitting U.S. senator was encouraging Trump to overthrow the U.S. government.

Fellow Fags, the Republican Party and the far right are hell-bent on ending U.S. democracy and installing Trump back in the White House by any means necessary.

As you read this, Trump is enacting a plot to install his lackeys to key offices across the country that oversee the counting of ballots and will be responsible for certifying the results of the 2024 presidential election.

But we won't let them. That's why MoveOn made the unprecedented decision to invest millions of dollars in a campaign to defeat Trump's candidates for these positions and elect people who will protect our rights and count every vote.

Together, MoveOn members have already invested more than $1.5 million to help defeat MAGA candidates who are running to oversee elections.

Can you chip in $5 a month to continue powering the effort to defeat Trump-backed candidates and protect democracy?

The damning messages between Lee and Meadows come on the heels of the release by The Washington Post and CBS News of dozens of text messages between the Trump White House and Ginni Thomas, a far-right activist and the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, in which Thomas urges Trump's staff to overturn the 2020 election.

In one exchange, Lee pressures Meadows to bring on right-wing lawyer John Eastman as the chief legal architect of the effort to overturn the election.

Just last month, a federal judge said that Eastman may have been planning a crime with Trump as they sought to disrupt the congressional certification of the presidential election on January 6. The federal judge called Trump and Eastman's actions "a coup in search of a legal theory."

The Republican Party is attempting to plunge our nation into the depths of authoritarianism. We cannot let them get away with it.

And that is why MoveOn made the decision, for the first time in its 23-year history, to invest millions in an effort to defeat Trump's chosen candidates for secretary of state.

MoveOn members have stepped up to support this democracy-saving work, and we need you to continue to do so until the last election is called this November.

Join us and chip in $5 a month now.

Thanks for all you do.
