Big-Tech Dislikes That - [10/18/2020]

As hard as it may be for some people to realize, there are people in the social media industry that are privy to the intent of Big-Tech AND actively working to counter-act it. Just because someone can write a program to determine the “appropriateness” of a post, doesn’t necessarily mean that person has the foresight in that moment to see how and by whom that technology will be abused. WILL be abused. Not MIGHT BE.

That’s not to say these companies participating in collusion with foreign states and election interference shouldn’t be punished. They absolutely should, and in every way possible. Twatter and Facefuck in particular have inarguably engaged in editorial actions that have violated their Section 230 protections – and against the President of the United States no less. Something I’d say he hasn’t even been a fraction as pissed about as he should be. The smashing of these information monopolies is far overdue, but again, this is due in large part by the fact that many facets of not only foreign governments, but our own as well, are tied up in these firms. Different tendrils, same eldritch entity.

But the throttling of the Hunter Biden story published by the New York Post has really been bigger news lately than the story itself, and Trump wisely brought 230 up at a rally the other day, as he needs to do at every event and interview from now until something is FINALLY done about it. Do I blame Trump for the inaction against Silicon Valley? To an extent, yes. While I realize that Trump cannot simply subvert the House and Senate and do everything via executive fiat like Black Bush tried to, Trump setting up and plugging a personal account on various other social media sites like, say, Xephula.com, would provide such an immeasurable boon to these sites that it would indirectly cause the mainstream outlets tremendous harm. Why has he not done this? I honesty can’t say.

But while lawsuits may be the ultimate solution for punishing Silicon Valley for very unwisely going the route of editorializing and unleashing communist-style censorship on the public at large, I think the free market is the true answer. People will naturally choose the less restrictive platform over the fink-tattletale publisher. And once that migration escalates, the circle-jerkers at the big firms will have two options: Drop the censorious bullshit completely, or go under as the Social Darwinist laws of a free market dictate.

Guess we’ll see how smart these people REALLY are in the coming weeks.
