  • Biden to keep Powell as Fed chair, Brainard gets vice-chair President Joe Biden announced Monday that he's nominating Jerome Powell for a second four-year term as Federal Reserve chair, endorsing Powell's stewardship of the economy through a brutal pandemic recession in which the Fed's ultra-low rate policies helped bolster confidence and revitalize the job market. Biden also said he would nominate Lael Brainard,
the lone Democrat on the Fed's Board of Governors and the preferred alternative to Powell among many progressives, as vice-chair.

In backing Powell, a Republican who was first elevated to his post by President Donald Trump, Biden brushed aside complaints from progressives that the Fed has weakened bank regulation and has been slow to take account of climate change in its supervision of banks.

  • USA is still 'land of the FREE and home of the brave'
    IF we can keep it!!!

    Owen Strachan ...
What medical choices should you and I make as Christians? We’re in a very nosey and anxious age. Whether politely or angrily, we’re being pressured to make certain calls about our health.
We should reject such pressure. On these tough questions, we think hard, we listen well, we act humbly—and we are from soup to nuts free, 100% free, to make our own biblically-shaped medical decisions as citizens & as Christians.
I repeat myself: 100% free, with no condemnation, pressure, or guilt from any side. We don’t live in fear as believers. God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). We don’t fear man; we don’t fear fellow believers; we live in reverent trust of God, following his Word, and we enjoy liberty of conscience on many matters. (Our conscience is always shaped by biblical truth, we note.)
Freedom is beautiful! Enjoy yours today. You are an adult; you are a believer (if indeed you are). You are in control of your body, and no one else; you are owned by God, and God holds you responsible for your bodily stewardship. Don’t live in condemnation or anxiety; live in freedom, and make your own decisions. Full stop.

  • GOD'S WORD FOR TODAY
    DAILY DEVOTIONAL
    GOOD STEWARDS
    READ 2 KINGS 11:1 THROUGH 13:25
After Scot’s first week at the coffee shop, his boss gave him the keys to the money drawer. “I know I can trust you, Scot. You have proven yourself to me.”

Laura’s employer praised her at her tenth annual review. “You have always been trustworthy, Laura. I don’t waste a minute worrying about you, because you have always done more than I have asked of you.”

They did not require an accounting from those to whom they gave the money to pay the workers, because they acted with complete honesty (2 Kings 12:15).

What an amazing testimony these workers were to their employers, the priests. The priests could carry on their own work and rest, knowing responsible people were taking care of business. Those who understand the power of integrity and good stewardship may never reap earthly praises or rewards, but they are a true blessing to God and to others. They may attract more people to Christ than they realize.

Challenge for Today: Determine to be the best steward of every tiny thing that is entrusted to you by God and others.

  • SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT ... IF THE EXPERTS SURVEYED 25 COUNTRIES AND 20% HAVE A CARBON NET ZERO PLAN ... THAT MEANS ONLY 5 COUNTRIES IN THIS STUDY HAVE A PLAN, AND THEY DONT EVEN PROVIDE ENOUGH CARBON REDUCTION TO MEET THE PARIS ACCORD TARGETS ... AND, CANADA IS ONE OF THOSE FEW COUNTRIES WITH A PLAN ... REALLY??? IS THIS A DAMN JOKE??? SO WE CAN BE SURE THE REST OF THE HUNDREDS OF COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD HAVE LITTLE TO NO REGARD FOR THE UN CLIMATE CHANGE CONSPIRACY ... WHY IS THAT??? MAYBE BECAUSE OTHER COUNTRIES DONT TRUST THE UN??? SO THIS IS WHY WE ARE SEEING CANADAS OIL AND GAS, AND COAL INDUSTRIES GUTTED AND A CARBON TAX IMPOSED ON CANADIANS WHILE THE REST OF THE HYDROCARBON PRODUCING COUNTRIES LIKE RUSSIA, CHINA, AND OPEC NATIONS HAVE INCREASED THEIR PRODUCTION??? I HAVE TO ASK ... IS CANADA THE ONLY COUNTRY PAYING CARBON TAX TO THE UN??? IDK MAYBE ... HMMM, AND CANADA IS ALREADY ONE OF THE BEST COUNTRIES COMBATING ENVIRONMENTAL CARBON POLLUTION WITH OUR CURRENT TECHNOLOGY, WHICH WE ARE COMMITED TO MAKE EVEN BETTER ... WHY IS CANADA TARGETED FOR THE FINANCIALLY DESTRUCTIVE CARBON TAX AND SUBMITTING PAYMENTS TO THE UN, AND OTHER COUNTRIES ARE NOT??? COULD IT BE TRUDEAU WANTS TO APPEASE HIS OVERLORDS IN THE OIC (ISLAMIC COALITION) CONTROLLED UN TO TRY SECURE MORE INTERNATIONAL POWER??? DONT GET ME WRONG I BELIEVE IN ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP, BUT I DONT BELIEVE IT SHOULD ONLY BE A HANDFUL OF COUNTRIES PAYING FOR IT, NOR DO I BELIEVE THE UN SHOULD BE GIVEN OVERREACHING POWER AND MONIES TO DICTATE WORLDWIDE GOVERNANCE USING AGENDA 21 AND 2030!!! I BELIEVE EACH COUNTRY SHOULD TAKE NATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THEY DONT OVER EMIT AND HAVE ECONOMIC SANCTIONS IMPOSED BY RESTRICTING THE EXPORT/IMPORT OF THEIR GOODS IF THEY ARE NON-COMPLIANT USING FUNDS PREVIOUSLY PROVIDED TO THE UN (OR OTHER NGO WHO COULD OVERSEE) ... CANADA HAS DEVELOPED AND IMPLEMENTED IMPRESSIVE TECHNOLOGY TO COMBAT HARMFUL EMISSIONS ... MAYBE ALL COUNTRIES SHOULD USE THE SAME FOR STARTERS ... AFTER ALL UNLESS THE COUNTRIES ALL IMPLEMENT ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY AND SUSTAINABLE WASTE ELIMINATION/RECYCLING NOTHING IS SOLVED, IF THERE EVEN IS A LEGITIMATE CONCERN (WHICH IM NOT CONVINCED CLIMATE CHANGE IS EVEN MAN MADE)... HOWEVER, IT DOES MAKE FOR A NICER ENVIRONMENT TO LIVE IN ... IN CANADA WE HAVE TECHNOLOGY LIKE SCOTTFORD SCRUBBERS ON STACKS, AND CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ON VEHICLES FOR STARTERS AND THERES MUCH MORE ... BUT TRUDEAU AND THE UN ARE NOT USING THE CARBON TAX MONEY COLLECTED FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPLEMENTING TECHNOLOGY SUCH AS THIS WORLDWIDE ... INSTEAD MUCH OF THE FUNDS ARE BEING SHIFTED TO ORGANIZATIONS TO MIGRATE PEOPLE OUT OF "CLIMATE AFFECTED ZONES" AND OTHER SUCH PROGRAMS THAT PUT MONEY IN THE BANK ACCOUNTS OF WHO??? MAYBE EVEN UNDESIRABLE ENTITIES LIKE THE "WE" ORGANIZATION PERHAPS??? OR TO OTHER PRIVATELY OWNED COMPANIES THAT ARE OWNED BY FRIENDS WHO MAKE WIND TURBINES OR SOLAR POWER COMPONENTS OR OTHER SUCH "GREEN SOLUTIONS" (THAT ALSO PRODUCE A HUGE RECLAMATION AND WASTE DISPOSAL PROBLEM AND NEED TO BE SUPPLEMENTED WITH THE LIKES OF NUCLEAR POWER) ... JUST ASKING A FEW QUESTIONS BEFORE I COMMIT TO INSERVITUDE TO PAY JUSTIN ... CONCERNED CITIZEN https://eciu.net/analysis/reports/2021/taking-stock-assessment-net-zero-targets

  • IF JESUS CAME TO “FULFILL” THE LAW, DOESN’T THAT MEAN IT IS NOW ABOLISHED?
    Bible Study / Daily Devotional
    Daily Devotional
Average reading time is about 5 and a half minutes

It is evident from this passage that Christ was responding to those critics accusing Him of doing away with the law. He said, “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the prophets” (my emphasis). Instead of abolishing it, He was actually doing the opposite.

The word “fulfill” means just what it says, “to fill” or “to make full.” The same word is used in Matthew 3:15, where Jesus speaks concerning His baptism: “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.”

There is nothing in this passage that suggests Jesus brought an end to or abolished God’s law. The “Law or the Prophets” included not just the Ten Commandments, but all the Old Testament writings. Christ fulfilled those Scriptures, just as He fulfilled all righteousness at His baptism, by His obedience to them.

The apostle Paul used the same word in Colossians 1:25: “I became a minister according to the stewardship from God which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God.” This does not mean to bring the Word of God to an end, but to fully carry it out in obedience.

Romans 8:4 uses the same word, stating “that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” Even those who think the law was abolished will admit that the righteousness in people who walk after the Spirit does not come about by abolishing the law.

Finally, Paul gives a classic example of the word “fulfill” in Galatians 6:2: “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Not one Christian would interpret this to say, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so abolish the law of Christ!” The same is true with Jesus’ statement in Matthew 5:17. In fact, the rest of the Sermon on the Mount raises God’s law to even greater heights.

    Ephesians 3:1–21 (ESV)

The Mystery of the Gospel Revealed
3 For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles— 2 assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for you, 3 how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. 4 When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5 which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. 6 This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
7 Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of God’s grace, which was given me by the working of his power. 8 To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God, who created all things, 10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him. 13 So I ask you not to lose heart over what I am suffering for you, which is your glory.

    Prayer for Spiritual Strength
14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

    DAILY DEVOTIONAL
    TESTED
    READ JOB 21:1 THROUGH 24:25
“Daniel, please come here.” Young Daniel walked into his father’s study. “Yes, sir?” His father pulled out an envelope and placed several bills inside. “This is our rent for next month. Please take this over to Mr. Whitaker’s place and give it to him. Remember to ask for a receipt.” Daniel took the envelope and folded it into his front pocket. “Yes, sir.” Then he walked out of his father’s study and started his journey. He understood he was entrusted with an important matter, and he felt a sense of responsibility and pride.

“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold” (Job 23:10).

Daniel was not aware of it, but as he traveled toward his destination, his father envisioned his every step. He also called ahead to tell Mr. Whitaker to expect his son’s arrival and to request a courtesy call once the envelope was in hand. He looked forward to welcoming his son home.

Like Daniel’s father, your Heavenly Father has entrusted you with His gospel. He will reward your stewardship of it when your journey is over.

Prayer Suggestion: Father, watch over me as I share Your Word in this world.

  • 5 MAY (PREACHED 4 MAY 1858)

    The Sunday School teacher—a steward

“Give an account of thy stewardship.” Luke 16:2
SUGGESTED FURTHER READING: 2 Chronicles 34:1–3

I see nothing in the Bible that should lead me to believe that the office of the preacher is more honorable than that of the teacher. It seems to me, that every Sunday School teacher has a right to put “Reverend” before his name as much as I have, or if not, if he discharges his trust he certainly is a “Right Honorable”. He teaches his congregation and preaches to his class. I may preach to more, and he to less, but still he is doing the same work, though in a small sphere. I am sure I can sympathize with Mr Carey, when he said of his son Felix, who left the missionary work to become an ambassador, “Felix has driveled into an ambassador;” meaning to say, that he was once a great person as a missionary, but that he had afterwards accepted a comparatively insignificant office.

So I think we may say of the Sabbath-school teacher, if he gives up his work because he cannot attend to it, on account of his enlarged business, he drivels into a rich merchant. If he forsakes his teaching because he finds there is much else to do, he drivels into something less than he was before; with one exception, if he is obliged to give up to attend to his own family, and makes that family his Sabbath school class, there is no driveling there; he stands in the same position as he did before.

I say they who teach, they who seek to pluck souls as brands from the burning, are to be considered as honored persons, second far to him from whom they received their commission; but still in some sweet sense lifted up to become fellows with him, for he calls them his brethren and his friends.

FOR MEDITATION: Never look down on children’s work; it is a serious responsibility to teach them the things of God (James 3:1–2). If it is your responsibility, thank God for the privilege and ask him to make you a faithful steward (1 Corinthians 4:2).
