• Good day brothers and sisters. This weekend is big weekend in the liturgical sense. Saturday the 25th is known as Annunciation Day, because it is the day observed as the one the angel came and announced to Mary that she was going to have a virgin birth. It is also the Fifth Sunday of Lent. Let’s see what the Smart Book has to say about this;
    Luke 1:26-38 Amplified Bible
    Jesus’ Birth Foretold
    26 Now in the sixth month [of Elizabeth’s pregnancy] the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth, 27 to a virgin [a]betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, a descendant of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And coming to her, the angel said, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.” 29 But she was greatly perplexed at what he said, and kept carefully considering what kind of greeting this was. 30 The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 Listen carefully: you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. 32 He will be great and eminent and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; 33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob (Israel) forever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end.” 34 Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin and have no intimacy with any man?” 35 Then the angel replied to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you [like a cloud]; for that reason the holy (pure, sinless) Child shall be called the Son of God. 36 And listen, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age; and she who was called barren is now in her sixth month. 37 For with God nothing [is or ever] shall be impossible.” 38 Then Mary said, “[b]Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel left her.
    Psalm 130 New Revised Standard Version
    1 Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord.
    2 Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!
    3 If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand?
    4 But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered.
    5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;
    6 my soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning.
    7 O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is great power to redeem.
    8 It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.
    Now I have a great question for you. Are you waiting for the Lord? I have been waiting and watching for the Lord since December of 1978 myself. That is when I was born again and knew that He had forgiven me of my sins. I have been redeemed and His love has been with me all those years. How about you? Have you been redeemed? Just think of how excited Mary must have been to know that she was going to give birth to the Saviour. She was foretold of His coming the first time. We have been told of His coming again. Are you excited about Him coming again? I sure am. I look for it more than I do for the coming of a new day.
    The Lord bless and keep you, His face shine upon you,

  • GOD'S WORD FOR TODAY
    DAILY DEVOTIONAL
    GOD HAS A PLAN
    READ JUDGES 7:1 THROUGH 8:35
    Soon after God called Gideon to defend Israel, a vast army of raiders numbering around 135,000 spread out across the valley of Jezreel. Gideon called the people to arms. Around thirty thousand men responded. Though the Israelites were heavily outnumbered, God told Gideon that the Israelite army was too large. So God, gave Gideon instructions to trim the force to the right size.

    The Lord told Gideon, “With these 300 men I will rescue you and give you victory over the Midianites. Send all the others home” (Judges 7:7).

    Gideon’s force, now outnumbered about four hundred fifty to one, launched a nighttime offensive at God’s direction. Terror and chaos enveloped the enemy camp and, as promised, God gave the Israelites a great victory.

    Like Gideon, you may be facing a fight seems impossible to win, but if God has called you to fight that battle, you can trust Him to help you win.

    Prayer Suggestion: Lord, help me remember that You have a plan for whatever I face and that obedience to Your instructions will yield the right result.

    Quicklook: Judges 7:4–14
