  • Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called on South Korea on Monday to send further military support to Ukraine.

Stoltenberg also stressed the importance of "extended deterrence" provided by nuclear powers, such as the United States, to South Korea. "As long as we see that authoritarian powers are having [nuclear weapons] in Russia and investing heavily in mobilizing them, as we see what China is doing, and also what North Korea is doing, then nuclear deterrence still has an extremely important task to fulfill," he said.

North Korea warned Stoltenberg's words could push the region closer to conflict.

  • American and NATO efforts to assist Ukraine in its conflict with Russia have escalated alarmingly since Putin launched his invasion almost one year ago. We began by doing virtually nothing to help Ukraine, except rhetorically and by way of offering Ukrainian leaders a one-way flight into exile. Since then we have imposed history-making economic and financial sanctions against Russia, and we have progressively taken on the responsibilities of funding, supplying, training, and providing intelligence for the Ukrainian security forces. It is an open question whether the average Ukrainian soldier now serves under Volodymyr Zelenskyy or Joe Biden. https://tinu.be/nJ7VXf_o5

  • Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev on Saturday criticized the Western world over its alleged efforts to "justify" supplying Ukraine with weapons by claiming that the move is meant to avert the next global conflict.

"Firstly, the protection of Ukraine, which no one needs in Europe, will not save the decrepit Old World from retribution," Medvedev stated, arguing that if the third world war were to start "then, alas, it will not be on tanks and not even on fighters."
