• Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 (c)(1, 2) grants "platforms" broad discretion. What is the real question here? Are users of a platform "entitled" to the use of that platform? Are they paying for that use (buying, exchanging value for value) or is it offered gratis to any who wishes to use it? Is the platform provider "obligated" to offer the service? Under the 1st Amendment, citizens "Are Entitled" to express (say/have) any opinion they wish (generally). Does the 1st Amendment guarantee the right to be heard, not be offended, or disagreed with? Each "Platform" is like private property where they are offering free use of a whistle. The private property owner gets to decide who comes in to use that whistle. Do we want government to regulate that private property and how the whistle will be used? How is government doing now with all the authorities it does have? "Who is John Galt?"

  • Who is John Galt?

What gives government, any government the right to take private property from a person or a company? One of the meanings of "Pursuit of Happiness" is the right to own property. What about being secure in ones things? This kind of behavior, philosophy, and use of authority cannot be tolerated.

"Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed" Meaning that with every election the citizen "Lends" a portion of the their personal sovereignty to the elected official to represent their interests. Is this how one wants their authority as a citizen used?

The 3rd Amendment (everyone forgets this one) prevents the quartering of troops on private property. How is taking a hotel not at its heart the violation of the spirit of the 3rd Amendment? An amendment in the "Bill of Rights".

Society, all societies are built (as one of their cornerstones) on commerce. Pick any civilization though out history and commerce is there. The United States became a superpower not because of the military, but because of commerce. Mostly with each other (citizens offering citizens products and services). It is "Enlightened Self Interest" that has created the great advancements of humanity. The consumer needs the businesses like businesses need the consumer. The relationship is symbiotic. This shutdown and the idea of the "Essential Worker" or "Essential Business" is a complete falsehood. What business is not essential? What worker/vocation/skill set is also not essential? They are all essential. We all rely on each other. We all rely on the Enlightened Self Interest that drives the decisions we each independently make. The bureaucracy, the reliance on government is way out of hand. It is the problem, the inhibitor. What we really suffer from is a crisis of perception, not one created by a disease.

So again, Who is John Galt?
