• Drinking Tea Milk practice

Improved Digestion: The combination of tea and milk can soothe the digestive system. Milk may help buffer the acidity from tannins in tea, reducing potential irritation to the stomach lining, which can be beneficial for people with sensitive stomachs or ulcers.

Bone Health: Milk is a good source of calcium and vitamin D, both of which are essential for maintaining strong bones and preventing conditions like osteoporosis.

Boosted Energy: The caffeine in tea provides a gentle energy boost, while the carbohydrates and protein from milk can offer sustained energy throughout the day.

Better Hydration: Adding milk to tea increases its nutritional value and makes it a more hydrating option, as milk contains water and electrolytes that aid in maintaining hydration levels.

Reduced Stress and Anxiety: The amino acid L-theanine in tea can have a calming effect on the mind, while the warm, soothing nature of milk tea can help relax the body and reduce stress levels.

  • The Dallas anesthesiologist accused of poisoning IV bags with dangerous drugs has been found guilty in federal court.
Dr. Raynaldo Rivera Ortiz Jr., 61, was found guilty of four counts of tampering with consumer products resulting in serious bodily injury, a count of tampering with a consumer product and five counts of intentional adulteration of a drug in court Friday.
One doctor died from using a tainted bag she took home to treat her dehydration.
Ortiz was caught on camera pocketing syringes.
Other footage shows him placing IV bags into a warmer just before patients experienced sudden cardiac arrest.
The US Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Texas said that shortly after the footage was taken, the bags were brought into operating rooms where patients experienced complications.

  • US health officials are warning of a rise in a strain of a drug-resistant stomach bug that infects thousands of Americans each year.
Shigella bacteria causes fever, diarrhoea and stomach pain. Since 2015, officials have noted a rise in cases linked to the drug-resistant strain.
The inability to treat infections with medication led health officials to call it a "serious public health threat".
Without effective treatment, it could cause severe illness or even death.
In a statement on Friday, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that while none of the infections recorded in 2015 were tied to the Shigella XDR strain, 5% of cases were linked to it in 2022.
In 2019, 1% of all US cases were linked to the strain, which is resistant to the five antibiotics that are most commonly used to treat it.
    • Drug-resistant infections killing millions - study
Shigella spreads "easily" through direct and surface contact with an infected person's faeces, the CDC says. It can lead to a form of dysentery named shigellosis, which is considered one of the leading causes of death linked to diarrhoea around the world.
Many cases can be managed through proper hydration and rest. Officials say it can be prevented by frequent hand washing. Currently, it causes less than five deaths in the US per year.
The increase in the XDR strain has most commonly been seen in homeless people, international travellers, men who have sex with men, and immunocompromised people, the CDC said.
"Given these potentially serious public health concerns, CDC asks healthcare professionals to be vigilant about suspecting and reporting cases of XDR Shigella infection to their local or state health department https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-64793444
