Biden Announces Executive Actions to Combat Climate Change. Yet Another Sign of How Meaningless Our Constitution Has Become
Biden announced that he will take steps to expand the possible use of wind energy in the Gulf of Mexico and along the Southern Atlantic Coast speaking to an audience at a shuttered power plant in Mass that will allegedly be used for clean energy:
“I have a responsibility to act with urgency and resolve when our nation faces clear and present danger. And that’s what climate change is about,”
“It is literally, not figuratively, a clear and present danger. The health of our citizens and our communities are literally at stake.” https://bit.ly/3PqN1EY
Ignoring the clear hyperbolic exaggeration one should ask: Where in our Constitution does the President derive the power to spend public money at the stroke of a pen?
- Nowhere, to be specific.
The Constitution clearly reads in Article 1, Section 9:
"No money shall be drawn from the treasury, but in consequence of appropriations made by law;"
Congress approves appropriations of public spending through Constitutionally endorsed, legal appropriations.
Executive orders are not Congressionally endorsed, legal appropriations. They are orders that apply to the executive branch only.
Biden, acting as the faux President, is entitled to his opinions.
He is not authorized to back those opinions with public money. That is an authority that rests in Congress, not the President.
When will the public and its elected representatives act to stop treating executive orders as laws?
Not a penny for these actions should be issued by the Treasury of public money and subsequent debt.
The President is not a monarch. That was discussed and rejected during the Constitutional convention.
When will the public wake up to that Constitutional fact and demand that Presidents and politicians stop appropriating public money without Constitutional authority?
