    COMPLACENCY OR FERVENCY?
    READ 1 CHRONICLES 24:1 THROUGH 26:32
Twice, the ark of God was kept in private homes. When the captured ark of the covenant was returned by the Philistines, it remained in the house of Abinadab for safekeeping. Then, David tried to bring the ark to Jerusalem, but not in the way God’s Law required. He placed the ark on an oxcart rather than on the shoulders of the Levites, causing a man’s death. Afraid to continue, David left the ark in the home of Obed-Edom, a Gittite.

Obed-Edom experienced blessings of God as never before. When the ark moved to Jerusalem, Obed-Edom moved with it. Years later, his descendants still served near the ark, treasuring God’s closeness.

All of these descendants of Obed-Edom, including their sons and grandsons—sixty-two of them in all—were very capable men, well qualified for their work (1 Chronicles 26:8).

Today, the Holy Spirit dwells in the hearts of believers. He is always with you, and that’s nothing to be casual about.

Prayer Suggestion: Ask God to help you savor His presence.

    REMEMBER AND REJOICE
    READ DEUTERONOMY 25:1 THROUGH 27:26
At least once a week, Bill and Melanie, partners in both marriage and their law practice, were among those ladling out soup to needy neighbors at a local rescue mission. It hadn’t been long since they had needed help themselves. Married in college, they soon fell under the weight of money problems and a severe illness. However, their church family helped them grow in faith and overcome their difficulties. Serving at the soup kitchen was their way of thanking God for reaching out to them in their time of crisis.

“Afterward you may go and celebrate because of all the good things the Lord your God has given to you and your household. Remember to include the Levites and the foreigners living among you in the celebration” (Deuteronomy 26:11).

When hard times give way to strength, health, and prosperity, do you give thanks to the God who has rescued you? God told the Israelites to remember His mighty action in their lives, and to do it loudly enough that others would rejoice along with them.

Thought for Today: God is the Source of every good thing in your life.

    CITIES OF SAFETY
    READ NUMBERS 35:1 THROUGH 36:13
“Designate six cities of refuge for yourselves” (Numbers 35:13).

God instructed Moses to provide towns for the Levites. These were also to be “cities of refuge”—places where someone accused of a capital crime could be safe while awaiting trial.

In spiritual matters, God offers eternal safety to all who will enter into a relationship with Him. Unlike in the cities of refuge, no future punishment awaits the guilty because they have been forgiven.

Just as so many regions of the world are considered unsafe today, there are also many places in our churches and our families that are unsafe. Not dangerous with terrorists and invaders but because of grudges, resentment, and unwillingness to accept people who are of different nationalities or who have made mistakes.

However, God expects His people to be like Him, to forgive those who have wronged them and to live in harmony with all believers.

Thought for Today: No matter how dangerous a city may be, God provides eternal safety.

    GOD OF ORDER
    READ NUMBERS 1:1 THROUGH 2:34
“Then the Tabernacle, carried by the Levites, will set out from the middle of the camp. All the tribes are to travel in the same order that they camp, each in position under the appropriate family banner” (Numbers 2:17).

God did not lead Israel haphazardly through the desert. He laid out a structured plan of government, including the residential quarters of the camp. He taught them how to live together with each other and with strangers they might meet along the way. The order God brought was not intuitively understood. It was to be taught, learned, and followed. God was in the details, and there was a purpose to His instructions.

His plans continue today. Though things may seem upside down at times, a person committed to the lordship of God will see order developing in the uncultivated areas of life. Forgiveness from sin is the beginning of the journey. With the first breath of repentance, God begins His work to convert chaos into godliness. God leads with a purpose—to teach His people how to walk in fellowship with the Sovereign God.

Challenge for Today: Allow God to order the chaos of your life.

    HEARTFELT GIVING
    READ EXODUS 25:1 THROUGH 27:21
During the Israelites’ time in the wilderness, God instructed Moses to do a new thing. He told him to build a place for worship, a movable structure called a tabernacle. God gave Moses specific directions for the tabernacle’s construction: the size and color of curtains, room dimensions, and clothing of the priests and Levites who would serve in the tabernacle. God was also clear about the spirit in which the people were to present their offerings to build the place of worship.

“Tell the people of Israel to bring me their sacred offerings. Accept the contributions from all whose hearts are moved to offer them” (Exodus 25:2).

God is interested in every detail of your work for Him, but He also looks at the motives behind your actions. He desires that your heart enter into your giving.

What is involved in heartfelt giving? First, give yourself to God. Then listen to God. Give what God impresses upon you to give. Above all, do it with a joy-filled heart.

Prayer Suggestion: God, everything comes from You and belongs to You. I offer myself and all I have to You. Amen.

  • Man has been deceived since the Garden of Eden!
We seem to THINK we are smarter than Adam & Eve but we are NOT!

We are STILL guilty of practicing those "Sorceries" that God told us to avoid! We ALL need to re-examine modern medicine!

I'm trying to get off of ALL MEDICINE!
100 years ago an #Evil Billionaire, with an Evil father, stamped out natural remedies which had existed for thousands of years, calling it "Quackery" (Like his father practiced)

NOT ALL DOCTORS WERE QUACKS at the time!
There were quacks in existence, Like Rockefeller Senior selling snake-oil! But there were actually doctors who healed people!

Living life day to day it is easy to forget that ideas can change the world sometimes much faster and more profoundly than we expect. Before the Civil War, for example, John D. Rockefeller was just a boy and his father “Big Bill” Rockefeller was a quack physician selling bottles of creosote to cancer patients for 25 dollars apiece. The family, as might be expected, moved frequently.

What Rockefeller did was to SELL YOU MORE SNAKE-OIL!
Only he used ACTUAL OIL to make his!

The Bible told us to AVOID THESE "Sorceries" and that's what we SHOULD HAVE DONE!

Is it possible that God was speaking of these "Healers" in Pergamos? Many say he was speaking of the Catholic Church from

    12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;

13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

The following is from "Gnostic Warrior" which I don't put a lot of faith in, but it demonstrates that these "Healers" were from Pergamos!

Many Gnostics and priests of healing were born and trained at Pergamon such as Galen who was the main disciple of the Kohanim Levite and Father of Medicine, Hippocrates. Even many Roman emperors whose ancestors came from these lands would travel all the way from Rome to be treated here.

Today, this church would represent the Catholic from the time of Constantine, and onward. For the church it represents the principal seat at Rome, where Satan dwelt, Revelation 2:13; which signifies exalted likewise; and it introduces the man of sin, antichrist, the popes of Rome, who exalted themselves above all that is called God, princes, kings, and emperors.

    The good Samaritan

‘Go, and do thou likewise.’ Luke 10:37
    SUGGESTED FURTHER READING: Mark 12:28–34

I have often wondered which way the priest was going, whether he was going up to the temple and was in a hurry to be in time for fear of keeping the congregation waiting, or whether he had fulfilled his duty, had finished his month’s course at the temple and was going home. I conclude that he was going from Jerusalem to Jericho, because Luke 10:31 says, ‘by chance there came down a certain priest that way’. To the metropolis it is always ‘going up’, going up to London, or up to Jerusalem; as this priest was coming down, he was going to Jericho. It was quite literally going down, for Jericho lies very low.

I conclude that he was going home to Jericho, after having fulfilled his month’s engagements at the temple, where he had been familiar with the worship of the Most High, as near to God as man could be, serving amidst sacrifices, holy psalms and solemn prayers; and yet he had not learned how to make a sacrifice himself. He had heard those prophetic words which say, ‘I desired mercy, and not sacrifice’, but he was entirely forgetful of such teaching: he had often read that law, ‘Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself’, but he regarded it not. The Levite had not been quite so closely engaged in the sanctuary as the priest, but he had taken his share in holy work, and yet he came away from it with a hard heart. This is a sad fact. They had been near to God, but were not like him.

Dear people, you may spend Sabbath after Sabbath in the worship of God, or what you think to be so, you may behold Christ Jesus ‘evidently set forth, crucified among you’, and themes which ought to turn a heart of stone to flesh may pass before your minds, nevertheless you may return into the world to be as miserly as ever, and to have as little feeling towards your fellow men as before. It ought not to be so.

FOR MEDITATION: (Our Own Hymn Book no.92 part 1 v.1—Isaac Watts, 1719)
‘Sweet is the work, my God, my King,
To praise Thy name, give thanks, and sing,
To show Thy love by morning light,
And talk of all Thy truth at night.’
