With the artificially inflated prices of everything from gas, food and apartments, because of unwanted provoked wars of war-profiteers, and out of control massive waves of refugees dumped all over every cities, causing direct housing crisis and huge price increases, while local jobs continue to be shipped to brutal oppressive communist China and third world countries; I am not surprised that so many of the poorest in society have to resort to stealing, often from large globalist corporations, just to survive the corruption and indifference of local and national governments and crooked treasonous politicians, working against the people, and selling out their own country, to fascist globalist criminal organizations, doing all they can to destroy everything and everyone's life.

As soon as I heard the very loud car crash near my home in Montréal, I went to see if anyone was injured or needed help, and screamed to my girlfriend at home to immediately call 911; And to my astonishment, no one else in the whole neighborhood ever came out to see if anyone needed help. And to avoid farther accidents, or a pileup, I even signaled with my flashlight other cars, not to enter the tunnel, obstructed with the car flipped on its side, that hit the concrete separation; Fortunately, no one died. Again, I am astounded by the total indifference of my neighbors, all apartment blocks filled on both sides of the street, on a hot and humid night, with everyone's windows surely open. Once the Police took control, I left, only to return later with my camera, to film a little, from a distance. PS: Seriously, how hard would it really be, to install safety absorbent bumpers, or water barrels, in front of dangerous concrete tunnel entrance division beams, on both ends, and possibly a vibrating approaching surface, to wake people up, when they fall asleep on the wheel, after a hard day's work, not mentioning having cars by default, manufacture-set, not to exceed speed limitations, and an emergency police remote car shutdown, to eliminate dangerous car chases.

  • 13 NOVEMBER (UNDATED SERMON)

    Vanities and verities

‘We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.’ 2 Corinthians 4:18
    SUGGESTED FURTHER READING: Romans 8:18–25

The present is so soon to be over that Paul does not care to look at it. There is so little of it and it lasts such a brief time, that he does not even deign to give it a glance. Here he is persecuted, despised, forsaken. ‘It will not last long’, says he. ‘It is but a pin’s prick; it will soon be over, and I shall be with the goodly fellowship above and behold my Master’s face.’ He ignores it. Thus it behoves us to do if surrounded with trials, troubles and present sorrows: we should not think so much of them as to fix our attention or rivet our gaze on them. Rather let us treat them with indifference and say, ‘It is really a very small matter whether I am in wealth or in poverty, in health or in sickness, whether I am enjoying comforts or am robbed of them. The present will so soon be gone that I do not care to look at it. I am like a man who stays at an inn for a night while on a journey. Is the room uncomfortable? When the morning breaks it is no use making a complaint, and so he merely chronicles the fact and moves on. He says to himself, “Never mind, I am up and away directly; it is no use fretting about trifles.” ’

If a person is going a long distance in a railway carriage, he may be a little particular as to where he shall sit to see the country, and as to which way he likes to ride, but if it is only a short stage—between, say, the Borough Road and the Elephant and Castle—he does not think about it or care in whose company he may be; it is only for a few minutes; he is hardly in before he is out again; it is not worth thinking about. That is how the apostle regarded it.

FOR MEDITATION: There is a proper way for the Christian to regard the present (Titus 2:12). In one sense it is to be enjoyed (1 Corinthians 3:22; 1 Timothy 4:4) and poses no threat to our security in Christ (Romans 8:38–39), despite the suffering and distress it may bring (Romans 8:18; 1 Corinthians 7:26). But in another sense it is full of spiritual evil from which Christ died to deliver us (Galatians 1:3–4) and of traps into which we may still fall (2 Timothy 4:10).

  • 19 OCTOBER (1873)

To Sabbath-school teachers and other soul-winners

‘Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.’ James 5:19–20
SUGGESTED FURTHER READING: 2 Peter 1:19–2:3

Modern thinkers treat revealed truth with entire indifference; though they may feel sorry that wilder spirits go too far in free thinking, and wish they would be more moderate, yet so large is their liberality that they are not sure enough of anything to be able to condemn the reverse of it as a deadly error. To them black and white are terms which may be applied to the same colour as you view it from different standpoints. Yes and no are equally true in their esteem. Their theology shifts like the Goodwin Sands, and they regard all firmness as bigotry. Errors and truths are equally comprehensible within the circle of their charity.

It was not in this way that the apostles regarded error. They did not prescribe large-hearted charity towards falsehood, or hold up the errorist as a man of deep thought, whose views were ‘refreshingly original’; far less did they utter some wicked nonsense about the probability of more faith living in honest doubts than in half the creeds. They did not believe in justification by doubting, but set about the conversion of the erring brother, treated him as a person who needed conversion, and viewed him as a man who, if he were not converted, would suffer the death of his soul and be covered with a multitude of sins. They were not such easy-going people as our cultured friends of the school of ‘modern thought’, who have learned that the deity of Christ may be denied, the work of the Holy Spirit ignored, the inspiration of Scripture rejected, the atonement disbelieved, and regeneration dispensed with, and yet the man who does all this may be as good a Christian as the most devout believer!

O God, deliver us from their deceitful infidelity, which, while it damages the erring man and often prevents his being reclaimed, does yet more mischief to our own hearts by teaching us that truth is unimportant.

FOR MEDITATION: ‘To utter error against the LORD’ (Isaiah 32:6) is foolish, sinful and punishable by God (Romans 1:24–27). We must carefully discern error (1 John 4:1–6), otherwise we may get led astray and destabilised by it (2 Peter 3:17).
