    1. Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

    2. (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)

    3. Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

    4. And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

    5. By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

    6. Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:

    7. To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

    8. First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.

    9. For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;

    10. Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.

    11. For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;

    12. That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

    13. Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.

    14. I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.

    15. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.

    16. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

    17. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

    18. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

    19. Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

    20. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

    21. Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

    22. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

    23. And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

    24. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

    25. Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

    26. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

    27. And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

    28. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

    29. Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

    30. Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

    31. Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

    32. Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

  • This shows how ignorant some people are. Maybe if they actually opened their Bibles once in a lifetime, they would know this?

    Had it not been for God blinding Israel, no one but the Jews would have been offered the gift of eternal life.

    The Jews rejected Jesus because God blinded them. Since their release from Babylon, the Jews had been faithful worshippers of God. They knew the law and followed it. They waited expectantly for God's Messiah—a military leader who would herald a new age of prosperity. Something about that mindset made it historically imperative that belief in Jesus should not take hold over the Jewish population. Perhaps it would have curtailed the spread of the gospel to the Gentiles. Or maybe the in-place religious and political leaders would have influenced the budding Christianity too much. Paul says in Romans 9:30-32:

  • Luke 2:22-40New Revised Standard VersionClose
    22 When the time came for their purification according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord
    23 (as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male shall be designated as holy to the Lord"),
    24 and they offered a sacrifice according to what is stated in the law of the Lord, "a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons."
    25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit rested on him.
    26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Messiah.
    27 Guided by the Spirit, Simeon came into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him what was customary under the law,
    28 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying,
    29 "Master, now you are dismissing your servant in peace, according to your word;
    30 for my eyes have seen your salvation,
    31 which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
    32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel."
    33 And the child's father and mother were amazed at what was being said about him.
    34 Then Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary, "This child is destined for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be opposed
    35 so that the inner thoughts of many will be revealed-and a sword will pierce your own soul too."
    36 There was also a prophet, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, having lived with her husband seven years after her marriage,
    37 then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped there with fasting and prayer night and day.
    38 At that moment she came, and began to praise God and to speak about the child to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.
    39 When they had finished everything required by the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.
    40 The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.

  • Good day brothers and sisters
    We have now entered the season of Epiphany. What a promise God has given us. Let’s see what the Smart Book has to say;
    Isaiah 42:1-9 Amplified Bible
    God’s Promise concerning His Servant
    42 “Behold, My [a]Servant, whom I [b]uphold;
    My Chosen One in whom My soul delights.
    I have put My Spirit upon Him;
    He will bring forth justice to the nations.
    2
    “He will not call out or shout aloud,
    Nor make His voice heard in the street.
    3
    “A broken reed He will not break [off]
    And a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish [He will not harm those who are weak and suffering];
    He will faithfully bring forth justice.
    4
    “He will not be disheartened or crushed [in spirit];
    [He will persevere] until He has established justice on the earth;
    And the coastlands will wait expectantly for His law.”
    5 This is what God the LORD says,
    He who created the heavens and stretched them out,
    Who spread out the earth and its produce,
    Who gives breath to the people on it
    And spirit to those who walk on it,
    6
    “I am the LORD, I have called You (the Messiah) in righteousness [for a righteous purpose],
    I will also take You by the hand and keep watch over You,
    And I will appoint You as a covenant to the people [Israel],
    As a light to the nations (Gentiles),
    7
    To open the eyes of the blind,
    To bring out prisoners from the dungeon
    And those who sit in darkness from the prison.
    8
    “I am the LORD, that is My Name;
    My glory I will not give to another,
    Nor My praise to carved idols.
    9
    “Indeed, the former things have come to pass,
    Now I declare new things;
    Before they spring forth I proclaim them to you.”
    This is a twofold promise; God did send His Son to be a light to the nations (Gentiles), and to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, those who sit in darkness from prison. He is going to send His Son again to bring justice to the nations. This is known as the Second Coming. He’s not going to have to toot His horn, because the whole world will see His coming and know that He is the Lord.
    We are to be like those wise men of old and be looking for the signs of His coming. Let’s be looking up for our Lord.
    The Lord bless and keep you, His Face shine upon you,
