OK, there's a lot of conspiracy theories and falsehoods going around about the radar and the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. I will put them all to bed now. 1. The Army/Air Force knew about the bombing but ignored it because of a mistake. A fleet of bombers was due in on that day. This is true on all accounts. Back then, there was no such thing as IFF tagging to identify planes. 2. The radar site did not have a radio (goof on the military's part). By the time that they called it in and were told to ignore it, it was late. 3. The radar technology was still in its infancy (it was just invented by the Brits), US military ground forces weren't used to it yet. 4. There was no way to stop the surprise attack. Even though, the Japanese delegates were sent with secret messages to warn the Americans of the "Surprise Attack" so they could fight back. 5. Even if the alarm was raised, casualties would have still been high. It was a Sunday. Most troops were sleeping in. It was a Sunday. Munitions were locked away just like on the Arizona.
