• In this scene from the the post-apocalyptic TV series "The 100," the newly crowned king "Sheidheda" asks his subjects to kneel or die. And he kept his word. Those who kneeled lived, and those who refused died.

What would you choose? Death as a free man/woman or a life of obedience?

If you go for the first option, you're a hypocrite, especially if you're reading this post on your smartphone.

Are you confused? Well, let me explain.

The Sheidheda character in this TV series is the authority, and his orders are the laws of the land. He's the government. If you refuse to obey his laws, you're a criminal, and you deserve to be punished by whichever means he decides. How is this so different from the modern-day government you live under today?

Every land on Earth today has a government that rules over everyone and anyone who lives within its territory. Everyone MUST obey the law, or else there's punishment. If you think you're a free man, you're an idiot. No one is free under the rule of government. You all must obey. You all must bend the knee to the authorities, or else.

Sheidheda is the authority that rules the land. The symbolic gesture of kneeling to him signifies your acceptance of his authority and him as the government the rules the land. At least he's honest about it by presenting the government-peasant relationship in its most simplistic form.

If you live in any country today, you're already kneeling DAILY whenever you pay income taxes, whenever you buy ANYTHING that has a sales tax attached to it, whenever you get your driver's license, whenever you get your passport, and so on...

You're kneeling to the authorities every day by being a salve in the matrix that governments designed for you.

The only way to be absolutely free is to die fighting the authorities. And as long as you're not doing that, you're bending the knee.

    Disobedience is freedom.
