The first criminal trial of a former United States president will begin today at 10 am ET with the jury selection in the case in which Donald Trump is charged over alleged hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
Trump was indicted by a grand jury in New York in March last year on 34 counts of of falsifying business records in the first degree in an effort to "conceal crimes that hid damaging information from the voting public during the 2016 presidential election." He is accused of instructing his then-lawyer Michael Cohen to pay $130,000 to Daniels 12 days before the 2016 election to keep her quiet about their alleged affair.
