As we know, Islam allows men to marry non-Muslims but forbids women to do so, because the kids are required (or at least expected) to follow their father's religion. Not only is this misogynistic and hypocritical, but it also contradicts the claim that "Islam is a religion of peace," because if that truly was the case a Muslim woman's lover and kids would be accepted no matter what.
A couple other reasons (more like excuses) I've been given for this double-standard, is because "the man is the head of the household, and a Muslim household must not be headed by a non-Muslim (so much for gender equality if the man is the head of the household merely because of XY chromosomes, and is toxic because it reinforces their belief that Muslims are above everyone else)" and "it's to protect the woman, because a non-Muslim husband might abuse her and/or force her to do things which are un-Islamic." So in other words, all non-Muslim men are automatically untrustworthy, and a Muslim man being negatively influenced and led astray by a non-Muslim wife...totally not possible. SMH! I've also been told that if a Muslim man abuses and mistreats his wife, he's going against the teachings of Islam. That's a big fat lie if I ever heard one! Then again, the Quran encourages its followers to lie and deceive.
Anyway, even though Islam requires (or highly expects) kids to follow their father's religion, it turns out mothers tend to have more influence. Which makes sense, considering that mothers typically spend more time with the children. In fact, here's a Reddit post I came across which discusses this exact "problem."

PS - Aren't most of the comments just plain sickening? But again, Islam brainwashes (and even threatens) its followers.
