ALMONDS!
READ NUMBERS 16:1 AND 17:13
It seems to be human nature to question the validity of things. As far back as the Garden of Eden things were being questioned. Ever since, humans have tended to question everything—repeatedly. Sometimes God allows people to muddle along in their jealousy and grumbling, and sometimes He makes a statement.
When he went into the Tabernacle of the Covenant the next day, he found that Aaron’s staff, representing the tribe of Levi, had sprouted, budded, blossomed, and produced ripe almonds! (Numbers 17:8).
The people had rebelled against Moses and Aaron. Maybe the people’s reason was because the two were brothers and all the power was centered in one family. Although the people grumbled and complained against both, the rebels decided to focus on the perceived injustice of only Aaron’s sons being allowed to serve as priests. In chapter 17, God chose to make His choice clear. Moses prayed for sprouts to indicate God’s selection, but Aaron’s staff budded, blossomed, and produced almonds. Case closed.
Thought for Today: Choose to put aside small questions, and focus on what God has made clear.
