GOD'S WORD FOR TODAY DAILY DEVOTIONAL TEDIOUS TASKS READ NUMBERS 3:1 THROUGH 4:49 Amber gulped her coffee, finished her devotions, and launched into another busy day. Driving children to and from school, planning meals, cleaning house, and a dozen other tasks awaited her. Hours later, she sat folding a mountain of laundry on the living room sofa. She reflected upon her life and said quietly, “I am matching these socks for you, Lord.” The Lord spoke again to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai. He said, “Record the names of the members of the tribe of Levi by their families and clans. List every male who is one month old or older.” So Moses listed them, just as the Lord had commanded (Numbers 3:14–16). Amber’s tasks may not seem very spiritual or exciting, but she was honoring God even in the mundane areas of life. Likewise, counting the males in the clan of Levi must have seemed dull for Moses, but he got the job done. Colossians 3:23 tells us to put our whole hearts into our daily efforts as we work for the Lord. Both exhilarating moments and tedious tasks are opportunities to serve Him.
