GOD'S WORD FOR TODAY
DAILY DEVOTIONAL
NO “BUTS” WITH GOD
READ EXODUS 4:1 THROUGH 6:30
Jim and his wife, Mary, were involved in a heartbreaking family problem. Their unwed daughter had given birth to a baby boy, and she wasn’t giving the child the care he needed.

Jim and Mary felt prompted by God to go to court to ask for guardianship of the baby. Jim was concerned about the outcome and fretted out loud to Mary: “But what if the judge makes a decision against us caring for our grandson?”

Mary replied, “With God, there are no ‘buts’.”

Like Jim, Moses seemed to have a problem believing God was able to meet his needs.

But Moses protested again, “What if they won’t believe me or listen to me? What if they say, ‘The Lord never appeared to you’?” (Exodus 4:1).

When you read the remaining chapters of Exodus, you learn that Moses did learn to trust God, and eventually the Israelites reached the Promised Land.

Jim also came to realize that he could trust God. Mary was right. When God gives instructions, there are no buts.

Thought for Today: When you’ve prayed and asked God to help you, you can trust Him to follow through.
