Tesla recalls 40,168 cars due to steering problems
The United States Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released a document on Tuesday showing that Tesla Inc. recalled 40,168 vehicles due to issues with the electronic power assist steering (EPAS) system.
The system "may experience a loss of power steering assist when driving on rough roads or after hitting a pothole," which "can require greater steering effort, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash," the NHTSA explained.
