There's finally some solid progress in easing America's baby formula shortage, though it'll still take a few weeks to get products on store shelves. Abbott Nutrition has restarted production at its Sturgis, Michigan, plant after meeting the FDA's "initial requirements" under a consent decree. It'll focus on making specialty and metabolic formulas first, with stock expected to be released around June 20. The plant was closed in February over contamination concerns after four babies were hospitalized with bacterial infections. Two later died.
The FDA's chief says he expects an end to the baby formula shortage in July.
