99.7% Of New US Power Capacity = Solar & Wind In January & February
In fact, wind power is by far the absolute cheapest source of power on the planet. Period. It is followed by solar. Solar would be cheaper still if it were not for the mindless tariffs and misbegotten vengeful boycotts and embargo's. All of these tariffs and embargo's are pushed by the fossil fuels cartels to delay the inevitable.
People once rode horses or walked to get anywhere. The invention of the trains, cars and aircraft destroyed the horse industry. They did not go without a fight, in the same way that the fossil fuel cartels are fighting now. The sooner we make the switch to 100% renewable energy and hydrogen as the basic mobile fuel the cheaper energy will become. Aircraft that could fly people across oceans in 6 hours ended the passenger liners industry. This is what new science and technology does, it improves life, makes living cheaper. What ended slavery worldwide was fossil fuel as gasoline was cheaper than feeding a slave to do the same work.
All technical problems associated with solar and wind were solved a decade ago and the technology is improving daily. But, it takes time to replace a large energy infrastructure built over 150 years. It will however be replaced and the sooner the better.
This energy transition requires ZERO tax dollars as 100% of all energy production and distribution is done by private industry. All government must do is to GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY AND LET IT HAPPEN! The government owns no power plants and sells not a single watt to the public.
After 50 years of expensive research, Fusion power is a mere 50 years away. Meanwhile, clean safe solar - Fusion Power Mk 1 - is working now. Both nuclear and fusion are expensive dead ends.
I recommend that the Republican Party adopt clean renewable energy and a solid plan to have a National Energy Policy as this cuts the legs out of the Democrats and their phony "Green New Deal".
