THE MISTAKE OF PUTTING ALL OF YOUR FAITH IN FIREARMS.
I just had an argument with someone about a blade vs 9mm in close quarters. He seems to think he is invulnerable because he has a 9. How very gangsta. Well here is the truth.
In a shocky situation like that the body releases overload levels of Adrenaline, Norepinephrine and Cortisol. I should know, I have PTSD. I know that when I was hyper charged with the big three that I felt no pain and really with injuries like that (unless you can get in a brain pan shot or a Medulla shot) a person is still functional for a few minutes. How much damage do you think someone with a short sword can cause in that amount of time?
As an example I worked a yard care job in Oregon and sometime in the process my right ankle broke in 2 places. I worked on that for close to an hour until the pain finally hit me at the end. I was so petrified to lose my job that it activated my PTSD and in turn killed all the pain and hyper-energized me.
Guns are great and we should fight for the right to keep them but I will tell you that they are not perfect. They are difficult to master completely and require a constant supply of bullets. Honestly I would rather have a sawed off in close quarters but even that would not stop someone who is flooded with Adrenaline. Its also easier to take off someone's head with a blade than a bullet.
So I guess what I am trying to say is, don't put all of your faith in firearms. Your mind is your greatest weapon.
