Dark Night of the Soul~
Nigredo, Albedo, and Rubedo are the three stages of interpersonal chemistry. Nigredo is calcination, incineration, and the darkening and blackening, of the individuals soul in their oratory, and of the matter, with which they are working with in their Lab.
The three components of alchemy are based on the journey of Ra. It is taught that once the Ra had gone down for the night he entered the netherworld. This is the Nigredo or calcination stage.
This is the root of the word, ‘Laboratory’, ‘Lab-Oratory’, signifying the twofold work of alchemy, both materials, and spiritual.
Upon, midnights arrival, is when the Conjunction or Albedo takes place. This is the holy union of opposites, It is the marriage, of good with evil. It is Androgynous.
The individuals return to that of a being, of neither good or evil, but the union of these, is succeeded by the Fermentation.
The Nigredo is the first phase, and Calculation is the first stage, of the Alchemical operation. They comprise the first death.
The middle phase of alchemy, is the albedo, and the fourth stage, conjunction, are the union of good with evil, which is the conception, of the true Self.
This marriage, within the alchemist, is a spiritual one of the raising of his being/organism to perfectly mirror their higher self. Therefore, during the alchemical union, of good with evil, evil submits to good, and good wins the battle.
Following this battle of unions or the conjunction of opposites, is the Fermentation, which is the Gestation of your new being. This stage is the gestating being, the philosopher’s child. During the stage of fermentation, it is also referred to as the second death, which is referred to as the putrefaction.
During the Putrefaction, the Nigredo, occurs for a second time, but to a much smaller intensity or degree, than at the start of the holy work.
The first death, is the testing, of the good nature of your spirit. But the second death is the death and total extinction of your evil self. ~ Myka Hermes the Lord of Sessennu
