Phew, you put it so succinctly. Spreading this info is so important. As someone working through avoidant issues in myself it is extra disheartening to see how dismissive a lot of people are of people with avoidant tendencies. Anxious attachment folks never seem to get the same amount of vitriol, instead a lot of it is super compassionate. And that only reinforces what we already feel about ourselves, that people aren’t loving, if I’m not perfect people will turn on you and abandon you and the coping mechanism that works for us is to retreat and self soothe. No one should have to cater and suffer or stick around through our healing journey. No one is saying that.
