NASA AND BALLOONS (1991)
most
#NASA balloons are captured by specially equipped C-130 aircraft, which track the balloon via it's transponder, and then they fly right by it at slow speed and deploy a grapple to hook the balloon, the balloon itself is detached via an explosive charge...
The payload is then wenched into the aircraft.
These balloons are equipped with parachutes, but are rarely used
because YOU'D SEE THEM!
The "Corona" program has a lot of information on this process!
