The Responsibilities of Public Office: When Does Politics Become Criminal?
Taxes are mandatory obligations that every citizen must provide in order to pay for the services which government is established to provide. Correspondingly, government is obligated to provide those services which the public has paid for. Folks who have lost their businesses, loved ones, been injured from lock-downs and the lack of emergency services that failed to respond should also consider this statute TITLE 18, U.S.C., SECTION 242 - Deprivation Of Rights Under Color Of Law. Those elected to public office have petitioned their constituencies for the responsibilities that are fundamental to that office. Failing to deliver on those basic functions of the office which they hold should be considered criminal when life, property and livelihood have been directly impacted by their decisions.
