Scotland’s new “hate crime” law already is demonstrating how it will be used to squash dissent and free speech.

The so-called Hate Crime and Public Order Act, which went into force in Scotland on April Fools’ Day, adds age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, and transgender identity to a list of protected classes.

The law provides for various potential punishments, including jail time.

The new law has been fiercely criticized by author J.K. Rowling, creator of the “Harry Potter” series, and many others who rightly see it as an attack on the freedom of speech.

Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf said the bill is about “protecting people from a rising tide of hatred.” But who will protect the people’s God-given right to free speech?

When asked about activists who are creating lists of other people to target when the law goes into effect, Yousaf said that the only ones who should worry are those who are stirring up hatred.

But who decides what exactly stirring up “hatred” really means?

In May 1963, John Salter, a sociology teacher from the historically black Tougaloo College and NAACP youth adviser, joined black and white Tougaloo students during a sit-in at a segregated lunch counter at the Woolworth’s store in downtown Jackson. A mob of young white people doused them with sugar, mustard and ketchup and attacked Salter with brass knuckles and broken glass.

“I was burned with cigarettes, hit and had pepper thrown in my eyes,” Salter wrote in an article published in The Guardian in 2015. “The women weren’t struck, but had their hair pulled. All the while the air was filled with obscenities, the n-word — it was a lavish display of unbridled hatred.”

Like many civil rights activists in the 1960s, Salter was monitored by people working for the Mississippi Sovereignty Commission, a state-funded spy agency that sought to preserve segregation.

What would have happened if Jesus had not been crucified? Why is his suffering important?

Father God sent His Son to the world in order to save it. How did Jesus save the world ? Well, the world needs saving. Why? Everyone is a sinner and it is our own sins that condemn us each to hell. The only way to prevent our condemnation to hell is for Father God to forgive all of our sins. God forgives ALL of our sins the moment that we put what little faith we have on Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Salvation is simple and its eternal. God made salvation simple and easy for us.

It is NOT a blanket salvation. Without repentance and acceptance, you are destined for hell. This is where most of the world gets it wrong. Confirmation doesn't get you saved anymore than being born Catholic or Baptist or whatever. You aren't born a Christian, It isn't inherited in your ancestry. You MUST make a willing, conscious CHOICE to receive His Gift, or you are doomed to everlasting hell and misery. Another thing many Christians get wrong is their hatred of the Jews who crucified Christ. Actually, it was the Romans who crucified Him, NOT the Jews; but most of the world blames the Jews. Well guess what? Regardless of who you use as a scapegoat, your anger is misplaced because if Christ had not been crucified, YOU and every other inhabitant of planet earth would be doomed to hell.

If Jesus hadn’t died on the cross, if He escaped the Roman authority and fled without being arrested, then He wouldn’t have been crucified. Without Jesus’ crucifixion on the cross, salvation would not have been fulfilled. That would be horrible. It would mean that all sinners went to hell. We would have no hope.

But thankfully, Jesus allowed Himself to be arrested. He allowed Himself to be crucified on the cross. It is His final, atoning sacrifice on the cross that fulfills salvation for all mankind.
