• Last year, the president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, proposed renaming the country to drop the name of the viciousness dictator that it was named after him. King Philip II, the colonial dictator of the Spanish Empire for much of the 1500s, never actually set foot in the Philippines. He colonized its beautiful islands and was the primary source of the elimination of the authenticity and culture of the natives of the land. Now Filipinos have a culture that isn't their own, names that aren't their own, mindsets that aren't their own, fashion that isn't their own, and a religion that isn't their own all while living in a country that's named after the dictator who's responsible for all this nightmare. So is it a good idea to rename the country? F*ck yeah! Duterte proposed the name "The Republic of Maharlika" where Maharlika is a Malay word that was used long ago to describe freemen. Maharlika means someone who is not indentured.

  • Today in America couples need government approval to get married. Yes, in the land of the free, you're not free to get married unless the authorities say so. The bride and groom are responsible for obtaining the license in person from their county clerk’s office in the county they plan to marry. And of course, no government approval comes without a fee and certain requirements, which vary by state. In Colonial America, marriage licenses were issued to prevent bigamy and to legitimize children. As America developed, the government began using marriage licenses as a way to control what races could marry. By the 1920s, 38 states prohibited whites from marrying blacks, 'mulattos,' Japanese, Chinese, Indians, 'Mongolians,' 'Malays', or Filipinos. Some states would not issue a license if the bride or groom was considered an addict, a drunk, mentally deficient, or previously married. However, by the mid- to late- 20th century, these laws were repealed. Today, marriage licenses are primarily for legal and contractual non-prohibitive purposes unless if you're gay. Marriage licenses exist to remind the masses that they require government approval for almost anything INCLUDING the right to procreate and start a family. Last year, Alabama became the first state in America to abolish the authoritarian marriage license, and hopefully, other states will follow to kick Big Brother out of couples' bedrooms.
