According to Dr. Eric Berg the cause isn't a congenital condition, it is caused by a trace mineral deficiency; particularly a deficiency in iodine. I am 99.99% sure this is the cure his wife desperately needs, so I emailed him this information.
When I was in my early 20's I had a cyst on my left forearm that concerned me. I went to my Primary Care physician and he told me it was most likely a benign lipoma, or fatty cyst, but he removed it and did a biopsy to be sure. As it turned out, that is exactly what it was. That is the only thing I have changed in my diet over the past 2 months and now the cyst is less than half the size it was 2 months ago. It is barely noticeable. Also FYI Iodized salt does NOT have enough iodine in it to make a significant difference.
