• I have a theory here, and you tell me if you think I'm right or not:

So, it seems kind of strange how we started seeing all of these big corporations start 'going woke,' as if it was somehow some kind of brilliant business move for them to take a side in politics and alienate huge amounts of their customer bases, right?

Like, best practice for them as a business would have been to simply stay out of it and continue selling whatever product, goods or services that they always had before the culture war, right?

But this whole corporations 'going woke' thing has been so common lately, that there's even a common saying, "get woke; go broke." Right?

It means that these companies are losing money by taking sides in the culture war.. and when a corporation, (especially a publically traded one) does anything to lose money, it's completely out of character from what we know as the typical way of corporate America to behave.

So the question remains... "Why/how is this happening?"

So here's my theory: Very recently, it has come to light that social media sites (namely Twitter, but I suspect others as well,) have been rigging their numbers, fixing algorithms, editorializing and curating user's content etc, right?

It's also come to light that those working in these companies who get to decide who's message gets amplified and who's gets censored are very politically bias, even downright extreme activists in some cases. Right?

So here's the theory: These corporations pay a lot of money for marketing data. Social media and big tech sites are probably their main source of data that they use to calculate their marketing strategies, right?

What if, the data they are getting is a reflection of the skewed perception from the censorship, gaslighting, bot trolling and astroturfing of these big tech sites?

What if they looked at this data that they bough from big tech, analyzed it for trends, and saw what was being reflected by the artificial alteration of the data instead of the actual numbers and trends?!

Maybe this is why every giant corporation suddenly started pandering to audiences that make up tiny portions of the population, while offending massive amounts of others?

Maybe they were under the impression that 'this is actually what is popular today,' so they threw their whole advertising budget at it, only to find out in mid 2022 that their data was rigged!?

Now that this information is coming out, you see these corporations doing 180's and changing their whole course! Look at Netflix for example.

I mean, it makes perfect sense, because we all know that corporations like 'cocacola' don't give a flying fuck about 'ideologies,' they pump the word full of high fructose corn syrup and own private - for profit - prisons n shit... why do they suddenly care about 'social justice warriors?'

They DON'T! They are just marketing with bad intel! LMFAO That's the corporate American way, just like we've always known them to be!

Would that not explain basically all of this!? LOL

Anwyay, just a thought before I have to go to work and stop thinking for the day....

  • Social Media Platforms: The Rage and The Outrage

The "only" Constitutional way to address all the issues around social media platforms is to amend Section 230 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996.

First, more clearly define what it is to be a platform (the Do's and Don't Do's).

Second, define and limit the activities of the platform providers identifying what constitutes editorial activities thus removing liability protections and proscribing discriminatory activities by the platform. The users should be free to block or subscribe to any opinions and information they wish without liability.

It is correct and proper that liability protection exists for platforms. They should not be liable for the opinions of others.

The issues not addressed in the public dialog on Social Media is one of "Property Rights" and "Commerce". The provider of the platform has invested time and resources to develop and manage that property. They are offering to the public a service gratis of any exchange of tangible assets (Free). The users of these platforms gain no rights to the platform through its use since again they are NOT "Buying" rights to access the service. Thus everyone is in a quandary when they "Feel" "Entitled" to the service. Recognizing this does not alter the impact this technology has on society. It is something that needs to be addressed.
