Technology, The Information Age, and Perception: C-009 COVID-19 The Information Omitted - Viral Strains
What is a greater violation of trust? Being given false information or being given no information? Every news report on Corona virus treats quarantines and cases as if they are death rates. Creating the perception that the situation is far worse than it is in reality. One of the nuances missing in the reporting is that back in March there were two identified strains of COVID-19. One much more deadly than the other. Why has there never been a report on the mortality rate directly tied to these early identified strains? It would have given the public a reasonable perspective of which percentage of cases had a higher likely of death.
In April a report came out identifying up to 30 strains of COVID-19. Yet again, this information goes highly ignored and there are no reports or data relating death rates to any group of #ViralStrain. What is to be believed when the basic purpose of news is to inform yet they deny the consumer of their product that very opportunity? This is much about the quality of information as well as how each of us consumes and understands that information.
