OUR DAILY OLDIES: MANY TIMES I'VE SAID THAT FOR ME, OLDIES ARE NOT ONLY OLD MUSIC THAT WAS POPULAR ON AMERICAN RADIO MANY YEARS AGO BUT THE BEST MUSIC OF ALL TIMES PRODUCED AROUND THE WORLD IN THE PRODIGIOUS DECADES OF THE 1950s, 1960s AND 1970s. IN THE 1980s I COULD PERCEIVE A DECAYING IN THE QUALITY OF MUSIC, EVEN WHEN MANY GOOD SONGS ARE STILL BEING PRODUCED BUT NEVER WITH THAT FEELING OF THE 1960s OR THE EUROPEAN 'NUEVA OLA' (NEW WAVE). THERE WERE MANY GREAT EUROPEAN GROUPS AND PERFORMERS BUT NEVER MADE IT TO AMERICAN RADIO, IN SPITE OF BEING POPULAR AND SUCCESSFUL AROUND THE WORLD. I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT IT WAS DUE TO THE DIFFERENCES IN LANGUAGES, HOWEVER, IN THE EARLY 70s, MOCEDADES FROM SPAIN, HAD A BIG RADIO HIT IN THE U.S.A. WITH 'ERES TU' IN SPANISH AND SEVERAL AFRICAN GROUPS AND SINGERS HAD RADIO HITS USING AFRICAN LANGUAGES (SOUL MAKOOSSA BY MANU DIBANGO OR PATA PATA BY MIRIAM MAKEBA). LOS SALVAJES WERE ONE OF THE BEST EUROPEAN GROUPS BUT NEVER HAD A SONG ON AMERICAN RADIO. HERE'S A SAMPLE OF LOS SALVAJES' MUSIC. ENJOY IT!
