In the early hours of Wednesday, June 14 2023, an old fishing vessel converted into a floating prison carrying up to 750 people capsized and sank 47 miles off the Greek coast. So far 79 people have been confirmed as dead. Only 104 had been rescued by the time the search was called off, so it’s possible that more than 600 people have been lost in total. Survivors report that the boat sank “in minutes" in a place where the sea is four kilometres deep. It is unlikely the bodies will ever be found. Looks to me like they need to try harder next time.
