Apparently, Disney tried to save the copyright by bringing him back to "active duty" but copyrights only lasts for so long. I believe copyrights only last in America for 70 years. Or a work for hire lasts for 95 years from the year of its first publication or a term of 120 years from the year of its creation, whichever expires first. Disney got an extension from congress.
