As an American, I feel that welfare (general assistance (money), SNAP (Food Stamps), SSI (Social Security Insurance), and SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance), Quest (Medicaid), Medicare) in moderation is needed for those who cannot work and are physically or mentally disabled to the point where they cannot work. BUT, those who can work need to work. Now, while this is socialism, it must be heavily micromanaged to make sure that it's not abused, and heavy penalties should be installed so that no one abuses it.

Now, this is the only thing that I agree with the left about. Society needs to be able to take care of those not able to work and not just push them out of Society. BOTH the left AND the right are guilty of doing this.
