AI causing the extinction of Humanity? While it's far flung it's a real possibility. The Terminator movies, the Mass Effect series of games (sorry, spoiler). Even Star Trek had a episode about one I believe. No matter how careful you are, shit will always happen, and a rogue AI will fuck things up.

I suggest stopping where we are and not fucking with things we don't understand yet. Because it will fuck back.
