Doge's Palace in Venice Great monument of Italian Gothic architecture, and one of the main attractions of the city. It is located on St. Mark's Square next to the cathedral of the same name. Although the first building on this site was still in the 9th century, the construction of today's building was carried out between 1309 and 1424, presumably the architect was Filippo Calendario. In 1577, part of the palace was destroyed by fire, and Antonio de Ponti, the creator of the Rialto Bridge, took up the restoration of the building.
