He states why... "Young children need to interact with the microbial world. It is absolutely essential to the proper development of their immune systems." Especially in the first 6 years and even into their teenage years. Masking children harms speech development. Again, why... Children observe lip and mouth movements which is critical to proper development of speech. And masks muffle speech which inhibits sound replication of words. He notes child development specialists complaining there has been an increase in speech problems in young children which he attributes to the masks. His solution?
