The Wendigo is a mythological creature, also known as a spirit. The Wendigo folklore originated from the First Nations around the East Coast forests of Canada, the Great Plains of the United States & the Great Lakes regions of the U.S. and Canada. It is part of the traditional belief system of the Algonquin-speaking peoples including; Saulteaux, Cree, Innu, Naskapi, and the Ojibwe.

The Wendigo is said to be a malevolent entity that has often been depicted as a creature with human-like features that possesses human beings. They have an extreme hunger and desire to eat other humans and commit murders. It is said they can also have cognition and speak to their victims, threatening and/or taunting them.
