It could be my amateurish observation: The Free World largely spent decades on a Global War on Islamic Terror which spanked Islamic terrorist tentacles but did little against Islamic ideology among nations that still embrace Islamic Supremacist ideology. Then the CCP-COVID inspires Globalist-Marxists to shut down Capitalist Enterprises on a local level. THEN Russia under Putin direction appears prepared to light the match to another world war believing the West and the U.S. in particular is too weak to respond to authoritarian aggression.
