It may seem outrageous to say, but in some ways I'm glad my life hasn't exactly gotten off the ground yet. If I had gotten a decent job and got married right out of college, would I still have those things now? Would I be one of the people who have now lost everything because of all this? Would the company I worked for have kept me? Would my marriage have survived the strain? It seems crazy, but when I ask myself these questions, I feel almost grateful to have so far lived a life of mediocrity. I'll find my new life in the rubble of this old world.
