The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan added between $6 trillion and $7 trillion to the national debt over a period of several years. The government has added $3 trillion to the debt during the past four months alone. We've seen what happens when governments desperately try to solve problems by printing money and spending money they don't have. Currencies deflate and eventually become worthless. Why should we think that our dollar is somehow invinceable? And this is a problem where the blame is shared between the Democrats and the Republicans (which is one of the reasons I'm an Independent). I think we're long overdue for a Balanced Budget Amendment.
