NY Post Columnist Urges Whoopi (Formerly Known As Caryn Johnson) to Drop the Name She Co-Opted
NY Post columnist, John Podhoretz, is calling for Caryn Johnson (aka Whoopi Goldberg) to drop the name she co-opted decades ago.
While she has given many odd explanations for her name change, Podhoretz believes it was really to double down on race and set herself apart as a minority.

In the early 80's, when Whoopi became Goldberg, it was commonly understood that Jews were a people apart due to discrimination and hatred.
To capitalize on that discriminatory aspect, Caryn chose to eliminate the Johnson and replace it with Goldberg.
As Podhoretz puts it:
"It’s obvious that a 2022 version of young Caryn Johnson would not choose the name Goldberg to gain that extra frisson of non-white pride."
"In fact, Whoopi Goldberg should just drop the Goldberg now. There are dozens of survivors of the Holocaust who bear the name - and an untold number who died in the Shoah with it. Caryn Johnson stains them both."
I wonder if even Caryn would agree with this columnist now?
