The United Kingdom was not formed until nearly 200 years after Henry VIII, the formation of the United Kingdom came much later than Henry VIII's reign.

Early States in Great Britain: By the start of the 16th century, Great Britain consisted of two separate kingdoms: the Kingdom of England (which included Wales and controlled Ireland) and the Kingdom of Scotland. The once-independent Principality of Wales had fallen under English control since the Statute of Rhuddlan in 1284.

Union of Crowns (1603): The accidental consequence of a royal marriage united England and Scotland in a personal union known as the Union of Crowns in 1603. However, full political union required a Treaty of Union in 1706 and the subsequent Acts of Union in 1707 to ratify the treaty. This marked the formation of the Kingdom of Great Britain.

Acts of Union 1800: The Kingdom of Great Britain merged with the Kingdom of Ireland (gradually brought under English control between 1541 and 1691) to form the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland in 1801.

Irish Independence and Name Change (1922-1927): The Irish Free State gained independence in 1922 following the partition of the island of Ireland. Six of the nine counties of the province of Ulster remained within the UK, which then changed its name to the current United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in 1927.

Devolution and Modern Times: In the 20th century, Welsh and Scottish nationalism, along with the resolution of the Troubles in Ireland, led to the establishment of devolved parliaments or assemblies for Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

A strange couple of weeks settling into my new home... so much of this town remains familiar but so many things have changed since I left for my first public school job back in 2009... It shows how dynamic South Korea is, new buildings seem to age and fade with amazing rapidity, are torn down and replaced, and some small aspect that used to exist is lost, never to return... and we head into another weekend with myself helping my little lady friend piece her new furniture together (inexplicably having lost several plastic washers, which I printed for her today) and try to answer a number of questions relating to what kinds of food and other offerings could help to develop her business... I have seen her running two small bars but suddenly, she acquired an itch for bigger premises, and so, here we are on a Friday night. Have a good weekend, everyone!

I read for almost 2 hours this morning trying to find something I could write about that wouldn't get me kicked off Facebook. Fail... The good news about that is a great awakening is occurring. All the little strings that held down Gulliver are slowly being broken and sooner or later that giant is going to get up. All the folks that tied those ropes might want to take notice.

You can fence in a herd for a long time. But a little pressure over a long time will slowly wear and tear on the strongest bindings releasing all that pent up energy and anger over being restrained. Watching that release is spellbinding to me. As the actual stories are slowly but surely coming out, all those folks ridiculing others for actually thinking critically might want to say they are really really sorry before some repay the loan of injury and insult. Some very serious people are starting to tell the truth and the opposite that has been purveyed is really really horrible in it's scope.

We are at a time of turning over the prairie with a plow. The old surface is going to be remade eventually and the refreshing will change everything. But it's going to take work, cooperation, organization and bravery to achieve. To break fences that hold a herd back, either a panic/stampede, or slow deliberate pressure is the solution. I see the latter in play at the moment. But stay tuned for the fence menders to try to induce the former to push the herd away from freedom. This year is pivotal. Stay tuned...

I would believe them. No matter where they are in the world, the left is the left. I wouldn't doubt that they're leaking your national secrets to China and then to Kim Jong-un. Remember, N. Korea is allied with Russia, Russia is allied with China. Just re-unite. Save lives, both countries are socialist already. Wouldn't be much of a change, really.
