  • Walk of the God.
Today you’ll head out of Bomerano to join the ‘Sentiero degli Dei’, or ‘Path of the Gods’, so-called due to the heavenly views across rugged cliffs dotted with quaint villages and a panoramic sea view across the Mediterranean. Following undulating hills that track the coastline and are clad with the season’s flowers, you’ll pass by shepherds’ huts and ancient stone houses carved into limestone before beginning the stepped descent into Positano. This colorful town sits almost vertically on a rock face within a sheltered bay. Wander through the wisteria-lined alleyways, past designer boutiques, or dip your toes in the crystal waters on the beachfront, before transferring by boat and bus back to Bomerano in the afternoon. Before dinner, you’ll have the chance to sample delicious smoked mozzarella and see how it’s made.

  • Why Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire, is one of the best places to live in 2021
Some call Bearsden snobby, but this ’burb bristling with boutiques knows exactly what it is and wants to keep it that way.
Bearsden has always attracted a certain sort of well-heeled Glaswegian, ever since the rural hamlet expanded, as wealthy Victorian businessmen moved in and built grand villas to mark their rising fortunes. The poet Edwin Morgan, the former Scotland football team boss Alex McLeish and Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos have all called the suburb home. Now Bearsden, six miles northwest of the city, has seen a near-stampede of Teslas and Mini Countrymans, with new arrivals seeking to set up home, get their kids into a top school and, well, get to the top in general.
